Non-institutional credit is costly and counter-productive. Traditionally, farmers were able to withdraw the loan amount in form of cash withdrawals using withdrawal slips and the Kisan credit card-cum-passbook. Regional Rural Banks, Cooperative Banks and Public Sector Commercial Banks in association with NABARD have implemented the Kisan Credit Card scheme.
