It is about 80 km away from Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya. As per 2011 census report a total of 78 families reside in the village of Riwai. The Riwai village has a population of 438 of which 224 are males and 214 are females. The population of children within the age group of 0-‐6 is 83, which makes up about 18.95% of the total population of the village.
