Abstract
Aspura is a small village in Sri Madhopur tehsil of Sikar district, 67 kms from Jaipur. The village is well equipped with primary education institutions, having 3 schools, 1 government and 2 private but there is hardly any medical facilities available in the village. For medical and almost all shopping except for the basic groceries, the villagers have to travel the dusty roads to Ajeetgarh, a neighbouring village 9 kms away. The closest major railway station is in Jaipur but it is well connected by Sri Madhopur-Ajeetgarh highway. Frequent power cuts, just one-hour daily water supply, lack of hospitals, theatre, hotels, petrol pumps and other basic civic amenities are some daily problems that residents of Aspura face. There is not even a single ATM in Aspura though an e-Bank centre in collaboration with Bank of Baroda has been recently set up. The number of households are 76 and the population is 413 but our research indicated that most of this population is planning to and wants to shift to the urban areas.
