Item Rural Immersion project : Samvedna Foundation(MICA, 2020) Agarwal, Deepanshu; Gandhi, Dhara; Dulera, Neha; Srivastva, Parv; Sethi, Sanyal; Tiwari, Shweta; Taneja, TwaritSamvedana’s most recent project, Vasant Pathshala, aims to act as a solution to the problem of lack of good quality education in rural areas - most of the schools in those areas lack proper infrastructure and have poor teaching faculty. The core idea behind Vasant Pathshala is to provide meaningful, good quality education using the English language as a learning tool. Along with literacy, they aim to work on social skills, communication skills, digital literacy, creativity, vocational skills and more for integrated development of the student. Since the school is located near a village, the majority of the students come from the agricultural background. The parents are either farmers or farm workers. Samvedana recognised that most of the parents urge their kids to migrate and settle down in big cities in the future. Vasant Pathshala is working to give them an alternative which can help them develop their lives without either deviating from their roots or migrating to the cities. Keeping this in mind, Samvedana also asked us to understand the reasons behind this common perspective.Item Telav/Shela Village Upliftment(MICA, 2018) Agarwal, Deepanshu; Upadhyay, Kaushal; Srivastav, AsthaA large amount of garbage is accumulated at the juncture of Sanand Highway (H-947) and Shela road and two other spots on the Shela Road to MICA. The garbage which is accumulated at these places is majorly dumped by the residents of Telav Village. Also, the garbage contains a lot of singleuse plastic and is not segregated which makes the task of removing plastic garbage a lot tougher. In comparison, Shela village does not have such large accumulations of the garbage but they too have the issue of the presence of single-use plastics in the garbage collected from the region as well as no segregation of wet and dry waste by residents.
