    Rural Research Project: Vashisht Kunj
(MICA, 2013) Gupta, Apurva; Anil, Shanti
Prior to our deciding the village, we had read about adjoining villages near Manali, through the internet and had brought down the list to a couple of villages. On visiting the Mini Secretariate and Tourist Centre in Manali we decided that Vasisht Kunj should be the area of our rural research. This was the major work which we did during our secondary research. During our conversations with different individuals in the Mini Secretariate we developed our understanding of the place and got an idea of the population of the people. Our Major objective through the entire exercise was to achieve familiarity with the village and gain new insights into it. We wanted to portray accurately the characteristics that define the village and make it different from the rest During our primary research in the village we conducted observational research, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions among different groups of people.
