    ZEE5: Reimagining India's OTT landscape
(The Case Centre, Cranfield University, 2025) Trivedi, Darshan; Bastian, Leslin
Zee Telefilms Limited is a legacy company that launched India's first Hindi satellite channel, Zee TV, in 1992, with a vision to create a platform that would converge media and communications and help viewers find a mirror relevant to the changing times. Zee was one of the first movers in the OTT sector, however its OTT platform ZEE5 is not the number one player today. ZEE5 today offers viewers a completely integrated entertainment offering with on-demand and Live TV in 14 languages. It offers 1,25,000 hours of on-demand content, including exclusive Originals, Indian and International Movies and TV Shows, Kids, Music, Hyper-causal games and Health and Lifestyle videos across languages. It also has an extensive Live TV offering with 100+ popular Live TV channels. They recently launched HiPi: a fully homegrown short video platform and added that to their extensive bouquet of offerings making ZEE5 the Entertainment Super-app of India. This case study includes an in-depth perspective from the CEO of ZEE5. It urges students to think from the CEO's perspective about the strategies the OTT platform should consider to give it a leadership position in the market.
