    To begin, we would like to pay our gratitude towards the Gujarat Forest Department and MICA, for bestowing us with an opportunity to explore livelihood, agriculture and cultural diversities in the region of Chhotaudepur. It not only allowed us to experience extreme situations first-hand, but also understand the issues faced by locals at the grassroot level. We would want to extend our heartiest gratitude to Shri N.M. Pandya, DCF, Chhotaudepur, Mr. Chavda, Forest Ranger, Shrimati Himani Shah, Shri Vijay Manek for their administrational support and guidance. We would also like to thank Prof. Mini Mathur, Prof. Ashutosh Dutt and Professor L.K. Vaswani for making us understand the scope, direction and process of this research work.     Swades Foundation : Real Konkan Cashews

    Swades is a good organization that also helps the poor, helps them find work. They have made their way in several villages and have provided the people with farm animals, plants, etc. so that they reap future benefits from them. They also provide water to villages that go through water scarcity, through bore wells or make pipelines available. Even for business for that matter, they have kept it open to women from neighboring villages too, apart from us. These women too got involved and have noticed positive differences in their lives. They can reap monetary benefits and use the money for their own needs or for their families. I’d also say that Swades is such a good foundation, that if we have a wish or desire, it does get fulfilled here. If we tell them that we would like to do another business too, they would make everything available for us in order to take it up. They ensure that no one is left without work here. The raw materials are sent to us the moment we ask them to. Swades has also guided us on how we can make our village beautiful. They have shown us the correct ways of doing things when we had made mistakes. Hence a lot of improvement can be seen in villages.
