    Rural Immersion project : CRY - Umeed ki Udaan aur Shiksha ka haq

    India has been a country where child labour is still a major issue. Approximately 33 million children are working as child labourers. The pandemic has made the situation even worse. More and more children belonging from underprivileged and underserved communities are forced to become child labourers to help their family financially by dropping out of school. CRY wanted to do something for these children. The areas under our study were the three districts of Kashmir - Rajouri, Budgam and Srinagar. Our project objective could be divided into the following two parts: a. Conducting primary research via in-depth interviews of parents of the children belonging from these underserved areas b. Based on the insights derived from the primary research, we had to design campaigns in support of the cause. The objective of the campaigns were: - To educate the parents about the importance of education and how it can help change their lives - To spread awareness about this persisting societal issue and help raise funds for supporting the child’s education
