Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is an agricultural extension in India and works as a link between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and farmers. KVKs are present across different parts of the country and focus on bridging the gap between agricultural research and the actual extensions offered to the farmers in order to make them aware of the more advantageous practices, testing and providing suggestions, training regarding the techniques as well as the products etc. KVK focuses on providing farmers the right knowledge so that they can use the best practices and yield the maximum results as well as the profits. This is done with the help of different sessions that are conducted from time to time in order to pass on the information regarding different topics, by visits to the farms in order to understand the issues closely and give specific suggestions, farm development activities and extension activities as well. The KVK located in Gir Somanth as a part of the CSR program of Ambuja Cement Foundation has also been involved in similar activities and has benefited the farmers in and around the area and has contributed to the empowerment of the farmers.
