Report for rural project on Ulsaipalem, Nalgonda district, AP for communication needs assessment & strategy
(MICA, 2008) Vijaya Lakshmi, Akshaya; Handa, Atul; Kaparthi, Shravya
The methodology adapted was primary research. The information was collected by conducting in-depth interviews with villagers, focus group discussions amongst the villagers, in-depth interviews with Panchayat heads and other prominent thought leaders in the market. We also visited the near by market at Miryalguda to rate the significance of the nearest town on the village. We also observed the retail setting, purchase patterns of the villagers, schools and how it worked and other government institutions as a part f observational research and tracking. Thus it was very primary research heavy study. An understanding of the physical set-up of Ulsaipalem is done in this section which is crucial for further study. A lot of families settled here have migrated from Guntur and Krishna districts during land reforms carried out 50 years( Nagarjun sagar issue) Most of the lifestyle especially food habits and festival celebrations are in the Andhra style. Telangana practices are not followed.
