Item How you can make Dissent your Superpower | Kaustav Dey | TEDxMICA(MICA, 2020-03-13) Mr. Kaustav DeyIn a deeply personal talk, Kaustav Dey explores the possibility that we all already have a superpower – to Dissent. Upon reaching his tipping point at 16, he discovered his power and realized he’d had it all along – and through stories of Dissent across the world that won, he tells us we all have it too – a unique superpower each – to stand up – even to weapons. Especially to weapons, in today’s world. With simple ways of dissenting every day, the talk tells us that we will win with Dissent. It’s not all we have – it’s all we need. About the speaker: Speaker & Fashion revolutionary Kaustav Dey is convinced Dissent is our only chance at survival – and passionately believes that this is an idea worth spreading. His last talk on TED.com (https://www.ted.com/speakers/kaustav_dey) was on Visual Dissent – on how what we wear - our fashion itself - can make us fearless. This talk then inspired PVH Europe’s Pride 2019 theme ‘Fearlessness’, culminating in the global Apparel company creating a floating fashion catwalk as a float at Amsterdam canal Pride that year – an homage to the diversity & inclusivity of the Ballroom culture. Kaustav leads Marketing for the brands Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Arrow in India. He also continues to spread Dissent – speaking to NPR USA for the TED Radio Hour podcast and writing for publications such as Harper’s Bazaar & Elle India – he has also been on GQ’s 100 Best Dressed list twice. Kaustav also loves to sing, eat two dinners every day and has 6 dogs. Kaustav inspired the Pride theme-'fearlessness' for one of the largest global fashion conglomerate-PVH. Dey writes for renowned fashion publications like Harper's Bazaar and Elle and has appeared on the GQ's list of 100 best-dressed people in India. Dey's TED talk in 2017 has garnered over a million views worldwide on Ted.com This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
