Abstract

There are about 60-65 houses in Tota Rani Village. This is on the downside of the hill where Tota Rani is situated. Most of the families staying here are of Gorkha community. These families are somehow related to each other as they have their ancestral roots from Nepal. The residence of one of the famous regional poet Shri Mitra Sen has made Tota Rani quite popular. He has the honour of having the primary school named after him. There are various communities that reside in the village of Tota Rani. They all live very much in coherence and harmony. There are the Thapas, the Ranas, The Thakurs, The Gurungs, The Sharmas, The Chetris, The Rais, The Gaddis, The Gujjars, The Gorkhas. Also there is no any specific caste dominance in this village.
