Abstract
This research report is an attempt to understand human life in a quaint village of Tosh, around an hour’s distance by road from Kasol Village. The village, situated at a height of 2700M comes under the jurisdiction of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh. The population of the village is a little over 650. The report proposes to encompass the village structure, economy, major sources of income, media & good consumption behaviour and beliefs. The report would also cover the problems and issues faced by people residing in the village.
The report is a humble result of our approximately seven day stay in the village. During our stay, we interacted with the village head (sarpanch), the headmaster of the local government school and villagers to gain an understanding into the facets of our study. The stay was a revelation and huge learning opportunity for us, city dwellers to gain an appreciation and understanding of life in the village – the problems and issues faced by the people and also their indigenous solutions.
