Rural Immersion Report- City: Bap Village, District: Jodhpur, State: Rajasthan, Client : GRAVIS
Recognizing the paramount importance of these ponds, GRAVIS went above and beyond by ensuring their readiness to meet the villagers' needs. They planted a variety of potentially shade-providing trees around the reservoir, nurturing them from fragile saplings. These young trees are thoughtfully protected from being grazed upon by livestock, and local residents take part in watering them, nurturing the hope that one day these plants will provide ample shade for people to gather and socialize near the pond. Mr. Bhura Singh, a key figure from GRAVIS responsible for this region, is dedicated to the well-being of Anandasar's inhabitants. He works closely with local governing bodies to establish sustainable systems for maintaining their interventions even after they are handed over to the villagers. This collaborative approach ensures that these vital resources continue to thrive and benefit the community. In Mr. Hamid's words, "The government tries, but it often falls short in reaching small villages like ours; it is only organizations like GRAVIS who think about us and ensure that we live well." His sentiment underscores the crucial role played by non-governmental organizations like GRAVIS in improving the lives of those living in remote and underserved communities, demonstrating a commitment to their well-being and sustainable development.
