Abstract
COVID-19- an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus has disrupted the functioning of the whole world financially, physically as well as emotionally. Study states that the pandemic could push about 49 million people into extreme poverty in 2020. While the majority of the households are affected with this in terms of losing jobs, loss of remittance, rationing of food and goods, disruption in health
and education, the impact was much deeper and long lasting among the poor since they are the most vulnerable. Poor residing in villages are although minimized to get exposed to this disease, but with
limited access to health resources it is difficult to control the spread given that their day begins and ends with interacting with other villagers. Also, not to forget the number of migrants who have been travelling throughout the pre and post lockdown period has caused major disruptions in the villages.
