Rural Research Projcet: Gujarat Forest

Abstract

Gujarat has total geographical area of 196024 Sq. Km. Out of which, 18961.69 Sq. Km. (9.67%) is declared forest area. State has wide variations in Geophysical and Eco-climatic conditions ranging from hot saline deserts to humid hilly tracts and from coast to high hills, resulting in to formation of various types of forest. These factors have bestowed the state with diversity of Flora and Fauna. We did our rural immersion project with the Gujarat Forests along with three other groups, where two groups were sent to Chota Udepur district while the other two groups were sent to Mahisagar district. We were sent to Kevadi, which is a small village in Chota Udepur district. It comes under Kevdi Panchayath. It is located 104 KM towards East from District head quarters Vadodara. 197 KM from State capital Gandhinagar. Kevdi is surrounded by Katthiwada Taluka towards East , Jetpur Pavi Taluka towards west , Dhanpur Taluka towards North , Jambughoda Taluka towards west. According to the last census in 2011, total population is 1436 and number of houses are 258. Female Population is 51.0%. Village literacy rate is 29.3% and the Female Literacy rate is 11.2%.
