There are only about 16 women who are into weaving within the village. There are 12 looms within the village. As per the administration records, the village code of Samarthpura is 81828. Samarthpura lacks severely in many departments. The village does not have a hospital or even a primary health center. The village does not have an ATM or a bank. Neither are there vegetable or fruit stalls nor are there markets to get provision. This report aims to record the Best Practices of weavers within Samarthpura so that they can be used to inspire new folk into taking up weaving as a profession and a means of sustenance. Samarthpura, at one one point in time had about 100 households that were into weaving. However, over the course of time, it has come down to just being 16 households. We had to try and understand the root cause as to why this was happening and what was it that was keeping these 16 weavers motivated to continue weaving. | |
