dc.description.abstractDuring the course of interviews we got many observations on which we built insights and worked out a communication strategy. During one of the initial days we noticed people sitting around a smartphone and playing ludo and similar games in the smartphone during evenings. This was reflective of the usual behaviour of villagers during evenings except that the physical board game was replaced by a virtual board. Similarly we noticed many men sitting and playing such games on mobile phone. Mostly everyone possessed a phone either a feature phone or a smartphone but the common thing was all adult definitely had access to a cell phone but it was mostly limited to Calling, messaging on whatsapp and games but nobody was completely aware of the advantages of using a smartphone. There was no professional rigour attached with weaving in the society. Weaving was very much an auxiliary occupation and unless much incentive in terms of emotional or monetary is provided in that, it might remain limited to that status in weaver’s mindset. So there is a high onus on Jaipur rugs to build a branding exercise around the organization and weaving as an occupation so as to encourage more people to take up weaving as an occupation thereby bringing higher numbers to the workforce and more craftsmanship to the job.
