Abstract
The basic need is to stem the school dropout rate and that should be the focus of any communication in the village. Both men and women are taken out of school at a very early
stage and this is detrimental to the overall educational and literacy levels in the village. The 100 days of migration under the NREGA scheme also plays a part in the discontinued
education of the child as many families travel to other parts of the state to get work and this seriously hampers the child’s school level education. Many a times, the child comes back to
the village and re-joins school. Here he/she may not be able to keep up with the other children who have gone ahead due to the classes missed by them. The need is to utilize government resources to educate the villagers about the need for education, especially in the primary level.
