Abstract
The primary work AKRSP does in this region involves the creation of community based institutions like Gram Vikash Mandal, Women’s federation, Farmer Producer Company and last but not least Self Help Groups. The primary work AKRSP undertakes in Dangs include water resource development with a specific focus on irrigation activities. They also focus on sustainable agriculture: which includes working on improvement of agricultural practices, and facilitating the creation of institutions like Farmer schools, Farmer interest groups and Farmer producer organizations. They also play a role in improving livestock development to promote it as a source of income in the region with a special focus on the promotion of Pashu Sakhi. Livelihood promotion is of key importance in this area and AKRSP plays a role in improving skills and entrepreneurship ventures. Through this they have managed to create enterprises like bamboo enterprise, bakery units, rice mills and other skill based small-scale enterprises. They also play a key role in the creation of community based institutions which are integral to achieve self-empowerment of people in rural areas. Other areas of involvement include rural governance, renewable energy systems and financial inclusion.
