Rural Immersion Project – Village : Dholi, District: Tonk, State: Rajasthan
Dholi is a small village connected with the highway through a semi pucca road. The outer ring of the village has semi-pucca roads but the roads inside the village are kaccha. There are around 250 houses in the village. All the houses in the village are pucca, the size and aesthetics varying according to their economic status. Most of the houses are simply covered with chuna with a very few affluent houses having paint on their walls. There is a pond at one end of the village that dries up during summers or if there has been a drought. Otherwise there are hand-pumps installed at regular intervals in the village for their daily water needs. However, the water has high levels of fluoride and is actually not potable. But the villagers do not have any alternate sources, and hence it has affected the health of many. The underground water level of the village is quite low.
