Abstract
As stated above the main research problem was to do an ethnographic study of the village Matkuli on various parameters like culture, economy, resources etc. with an emphasis on brand and media consumption. The second aspect of the research problem is to carry out a communication needs assessment of the village.
Based on the assessment an area which requires a communication intervention has to be identified. Hence we need to identify the need gaps in certain areas on which we conducted the research, so that we could close the gap with the help of various development communication techniques/strategies that we have learnt as a part of our curriculum.
Research Design
Before we arrived in Matkuli we have done a considerable amount of secondary research regarding the village. We have acquired information on the topography, climate, population, occupation etc. Also with the help of the information and the rural research guidelines document that was shared as a part of the rural research workshop, we drafted a set of questionnaires that could be used while we conduct the interviews. We also chalked out a plan as to what the important places that we should cover and who are the people we should meet to gather the required information for the research.
