Rural Immersion Project – Village : Satobari, District: Kangra, State: Himachal Pradesh
Satobari is a small village in Dharamshala Sub District. It comprises 20-25 households with a total population of 200-250 persons. Due to its compact size and less population, Census of India recognizes it as a part of a larger village, Bhatala. Bhatala has 99 households consisting of a total of 468 persons including 241 men, 227 women and 56 children (0-6 years).1 The village has compact settlements with a linear pattern. Thus some households are located on hill top while some households are located in the valley below. The larger village, Bhatala has hamleted and dispersed settlements in the Wet Temperate Forest Area.
