Our group of four undertook their Rural Immersion Project at Mithapur in Gujarat. Our partner organisation was the TATA Trust Group. We worked on the Education Sector with Coastal Salinity Prevention Cell (CSPC), where we were supported by Mr. Chaggan Waghela and his able team. All of Tata Trust’s initiatives are closely aligned with and relevant to the local and national contexts in which the company is located. These interventions are designed to follow principles of sustainable development- factoring in social, human rights, and environmental impacts in their design as well as execution. Since it originated, Tata Trusts—as an organisation— has assumed a pioneering role in transforming traditional beliefs about charity and introduced the concept of philanthropy to make a real difference to communities within and around which it operated. Through grant-making, direct implementation and co-partnership strategies, the Trusts support and drive innovation in the areas of natural resources management; education; healthcare and nutrition; rural livelihoods; enhancing civil society and governance; media, arts, crafts and culture; and diversified employment.
