Rural Immersion Project – Village : Key, District: Lahaul-Spiti, State: Himachal Pradesh
The village of Key which houses the famous Key monastery is one of the most remote and high altitude villages in Spiti, and we selected this village as we were surprised when we found out that this village plays a key role in sustaining the operations at the monastery and hence is a key village in Spiti. The plan was to stay there for 10 days and try to understand most of the village details and gather information in a first-hand way. Our initial research helped us gain a better understanding of the place so we knew how to identify the areas of research and work with them to reach a stage where we could understand, gather, analyze and work with only information that is provided to us directly by the villagers. Also, with the precursory information we could find newer ways of obtaining data.
