dc.description.abstractMonedanga village is around 170 Kms from Kolkata. It can be reached by road from Kolkata. But the most convenient of all commutes is to take a train to Bolpur from Howrah. The frequency of train to and fro on the path is 4-5 times a day depending on the day of the week. From Bolpur (the other name Shantiniketan is known as) railway station Monedanga can be reached by bus or taxis. The market near the railway station is the only major market for people in the staying in Monedanga. The village spans over an area of 1650-1700 sq mtr with approximately 400 households. As per Census 2011 the total population of the village is 2909. Out of which 1467 were males while 1442 were females, which comes to the sex ratio of 0.98. That means a relatively healthier sex ration than the national sex ratio of 0.94.
