| dc.description | Area: Jharli, District: Sikar : Rajasthan | |
| dc.description.abstract | harli is a village in the Sikar district of Rajasthan. It was ruled by the Shekhawat Rajputs for 500 years till independence of India. The Sikar district was ruled by Rao Ji Ka Sub clan of Shekhawats Currently, it has a population between 10,000-15,000. The village has hills which are about 600-1000 meters in height. Further away, A vast stretch of pasture offers itself as grazing grounds for cows, goats and sheep There are many clefts which were earlier filled with water but have dried up now but in monsoon they form these so called ‘Nallas’, hence are baracked at many points. Over the years the size of the farmland has been reduced due to the construction of houses. The village faces a dearth of jobs. A number of houses have rug making looms, owned by Jaipur Rugs or contractors. This is mostly a secondary job for households to earn some extra bucks. The men of the house mostly work in Jaipur. The village believes in education and hence, the young generation is graduated at least. It has many abandoned houses which are now beautiful ruins. The residents have left Jharli for Ajeetgarh to make bricks (earlier done in Punjab) as it offers more money than making rugs There is a serious problem of castes. | |
