dc.description	Rural Immersion Project – Village : Haral, District: South 24 Parganas, State: West Bengal
dc.description.abstract	Haral Village came under the Baraipur Tehsil in the South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal. The village had a population of 3000 people living in 800 households with an average family size of 4. The registered number of voters of this village is 1200 and was getting updated while we were our visit to the village. The village had both Kutcha (Mud) houses and Pucca (Brick) houses. The people who were better off financially had built the pucca houses while others still lived in the crude kutcha houses with thatched roofs made of hay. The floor of all the houses were cemented as we saw both kutcha and pucca houses. The walls of the brick houses were painted but the kutcha houses were raw. The exterior of almost all kutcha houses had cow dung cakes all over the wall left for drying. It is used as fuel for cooking and it also said to have keep the houses cool inside.
