Rural Immersion Project – Village : Rangrik, District: Lahaul-Spiti, State: Himachal Pradesh
The nearest major town from Rangrik is Kaza which is at a distance of about 8 kilometres. There is a small bus stand in the village that has buses for Kaza and other nearby villages within the valley. For going into the main state of HP (Shimla, Manali, etc.), buses can be taken from Kaza once a day which is the Himachal Pradesh state tourism bus. The road leading to Spiti valley is an extremely bad sate due to inclement weather conditions. The limited connectivity makes it difficult to bring in the materials and labour to build the road. The road is under the control of Border Roads Organization (BRO). To travel within the valley, locals use their private vehicles. Majority of the families (80 %) have a private vehicle. Most of them own a motorbike and or a 4 wheeler (most commonly Maruti 800).Taxis are also available. Tourists who come to the valley majorly rent a car.
