Abstract

Established in 1911, ICMR is the apex body in India for the formulation and coordination of biomedical research. It is an autonomous body under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. Its research priorities coincide with the national health policies towards prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, improving reproductive and child health and nutrition, and promoting basic medical sciences and drug research including traditional medicines. ICMR promotes biomedical research in the country through intramural and extramural research. Global Health Strategies (GHS) is an international organization that raises awareness and provides support to address public health challenges facing emerging economies. GHS research and analyse policy, provide evidence-based solutions for producing introductions, develops audience-specific advocacy and communications strategies and materials, and implements programs on health-related issues. This certificate course in health communications, developed by the Centre for Development Management and Communication (CDMC)-MICA, Ahmedabad in partnership with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Global Health Strategies (GHS), plans to strengthen communication strategies used by the scientists and their associates working on different health projects to inform and ultimately influence individual and community decisions that affect health.
