Abstract

We decided to select a village in Maharashtra because both of us have spent a major part of our lives in Maharashtra and were familiar with the local language, i.e. Marathi. Further, our selection was determined by factors such as reachability via road, availability of basic necessities for residence in vicinity and having at least one contact person in the village to facilitate our interaction. After careful consideration, we shortlisted the villages of Pasthal, Saravali, Walve-Akkarpatti and Tarapur – all in Palghar district of Maharashtra. Our acquaintance with Mr. Ankit Trivedi, a resident of Boisar helped us finalize Walve-Akkarpatti for the research.
