Rural Immersion Project – Village : Guleria, District: Churu, State: Rajasthan
Before going to Guleria, the regions we had in mind were Churu – Sujangarh/Chhapar or nearby regions. Primarily why specifically this region – Locational Barrier, Weather Conditions adverse and limited resources. It triggers the fact that rich heritage of Rajasthan in tradition of rural areas. Due to the past knowledge about Rajasthan, its dynasties it becomes more interesting to know the lifestyle of people at ground root level. While doing our research for selecting the village, it was heard that Chhapar and nearby villages are occupied majorly by Marwaris who are known for doing business and are rich villages. No such thing as too much dependency on government schemes and policies, hence resources are limited but no problem in arranging resources. We were searching for a kind of villages who still have good amount of restriction in terms of resources & infra-structure and so far been not exposed much to efficient communication by government. Guleria was one such village, which did fit the criteria for our selection.
