Rural Immersion Project – Village : Bairanga, District: Chamoli, State: Uttarakhand
Bairagna is a Gram Sabha, i.e., a cluster of very small villages, namely Bairagna, Kankhuli, Peepalkoti and Bhadakoti. Each village is a small hamlet on the slopes of the mountains aligned along the way from Gopeshwar to Mandal (the adjacent gram sabha, only 3 km away). This Gramsabha falls on the banks of the river Baalkila, which is a tributary that mixes into the main Alaknanda River near Chamoli. It falls under the developmental block of Dasholi under the Chamoli district. It has been given the title of an Atal Adarsh Gram under the erstwhile Atal Bihari Vajpayee NDA government.
