Rural Immersion Project – Village: Matkuli, District: Hoshangabad, State: Madhya Pradesh
The village is situated majorly on the state highway that connects Hoshangabad and Pachmarhi. It has developed a distinct business/commercial division which is situated far from the Living area. The village is spread over a very large area which includes all the land holdings of the people as well. The houses in the village settlement are arranged in form of colonies. Each colony has a predominant caste/similarity of occupation in terms of the arrangement. These colonies are separated by means of small and narrow kuchcha roads. A single colony can have upto 6 houses. The colonies which are closest to the bigger roads are the ones that are the biggest and as we go interior the houses become smaller and the kind of housing also starts deteriorating.
