dc.description.abstractWe conducted our rural research in a village called Nagdha in the state of West Bengal, which for administrative purposes is called J.L.No.22. The village has a total population of 5,268 people. The total area under agriculture is 781.48 acres. The village Nagdha falls under Majhipara Palishi Gram Panchayat. Majhipara has a total population of 16,282. Out of the total 16,282 people 4,787(29.40%) people are schedule caste and 1,396(8.57%) schedule tribes. There is a total population of 1,600(approx.) which falls below the poverty line. Majhipara Palishi Gram Panchayat consists of a total of 7 Mouja’s. The nearest town to Nagdha is Kachrapara. The other major town next to Kachrapara is Shyamnagar, at a distance of 8 km from Nagdha. The nearest station is located in Kachrapara also, which links it through local trains to the rest of Bengal.
