Abstract

Tehri Garhwal is one of the western most district of the Uttarakhand State (Former Uttar Pradesh) located on the outer ranges of the mid Himalayas with a total area of 4421 sq. kms and population of 604,747(295168(M) +309579(F)) out of which 544901(258401(M)+286500(F) stay in rural (2001 census). The Tehri dam which is coming up on the Bhagirathi-Bhilangana rivers has build up hopes in villages of this district. The prices of land are increasing and companies have started taking interest in building it as a tourist attraction. Understand the lifestyle and attitude of people from various categories in village based on income, profession, education etc. Analyze the evolution of media habits in people of rural area of Tehri Garwal, To find communication gaps in the region along with possible solution which could be practically implemented.
