Rural Immersion Report- Jharli village, in Sikar district of Rajasthan, Client: Jaipur Rugs
Our project was on Connecting the Frontliners of Jaipur Rugs: The Customers and The Artisans. We, a team of six, spent three days in Jaipur, understanding the company’s business from their Jaipur headquarters and then spent a week at the Jharli village, in Sikar district of Rajasthan. In the village we had stayed with Jitendra ji and his family of five. Jharli village is located roughly ninety minutes distant from the charming rusticity of Jaipur. We lived among the weavers, learnt about their way of life, and integrated ourselves to their social circle. We also visited the school, government hospital and the Panchayat office where we met the Sarpanchhpati and tried to understand the social structure in the village.
