Rural Immersion Project – Village : Lalung, District: Lahaul-Spiti, State: Himachal Pradesh
The village is popular amongst tourists that are on trekking expeditions. This is so primarily because of the village’s location and the fact that home stay facilities are available. Analyzing the situation further, we found out that a lot of deaths occur due to drinking problems that is prevalent in most parts of Spiti and specifically in Lalung. People take up to drinking and smoking from a very young age, as young as 15 years of age. The easy availability of local alcohol makes them to consume more which is the main cause of diseases and deaths in the area.
