Rural Research Project: Vad kheri

Abstract

Our Research began on 28th September 2015, and was conducted in the village Vad kheri in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Our primary objective was to understand the education and career aspirations of the youth in the village. We also tried to understand their way of life. We tried to understand the exposure of the villagers towards different brands and their consumption pattern in general. We also tried to understand their exposure to different media and how exposure to media has influenced their aspirations and consumption patterns in general. We wanted to understand the root cause behind the existing mind set and prevailing practices in the village and if a communication strategy can be deployed for the betterment of this audience. We also wanted to understand what kind of communication would work best for this audience. Hence, a deeper understanding of the population was necessary.
