Abstract
While the world talks about gender equality, are we making any significant headway towards a world for equal opportunities for both genders? Are our women finding it easier to follow their dreams and do what they like? Are these women empowered enough to take matters into their own hands and revolt when necessary? Hear Priyanka Kochhar tell us about the difficulties a young Indian woman faces in this country, despite being from an affluent and educated family. An illustrious model (she’s featured in popular spreads like Vogue and Elle), Priyanka merged her passion for motorbikes with her likeable personality to build a strong online presence. Often seen passionately imparting wisdom about new bike launches, women empowerment and motorsport, she talks about how it is important to identify what you like and follow it through passionately, despite hardships. She takes us through her challenges, especially in the form of her family, and the effort it took to break out and branch out on her own. India's BikeWithGirl, Priyanka Kochhar has led the bandwagon for 'paradigm shifts'. As a model who has featured on Vogue, Elle, and several print/advertising campaigns, she has a strong social media presence. She is popular for imparting wisdom about the latest motorcycles launches, Motorsport and empowering women into making alternate career choices. She also raced in the National Championship, bagging her first podium win last year. Her words of inspiration have caused an institutional change amongst young netizens leading them to expand their horizons without being restricted by any societal norm, expectation, or boundary. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
