Abstract

When we started writing the report, India had 422 million internet subscribers, whereas in 2024 March India had 936 million internet subscribers. Metaverse, Generative AI, 5G, Spotify etc. found its usage in India in this phase. About 47% of India is still not connected with the Internet. The next few years will be exciting for the digital platforms in the country. The first time digitally connected areas / individuals will bring in diversity of culture, and hence the content promise will become more and more niche. Indian consumer largely loves to access content without paying for it, hence Indian digital advertising market is growing at a fast pace. The real money games have proved to be an exception, perhaps because the real money rewards address the greed of human beings to earn quick money. Business of digital platforms is a combination of consumers, tech, data, bandwidth, content, marketing, engagement and revenue. Each digital vertical is involved in creating unique identify by creating distinctive content. Indians engage heavily on digital platforms through their mobile phones. The digital platforms have been growing consistently over the past few years. This report gives insights about the top platforms within Video, Audio, gaming and news categories.
