Item CLIP Newsletter(MICA, 2026-02-06)In the classroom of today, learning coexists with glowing screens. Laptops open, mobile phones, social media feeds, Whatsapp chats, and constant connectivity are no longer interruptions —they are the environment within which learning happens. For educators, the question is no longer whether digital natives will switch on their phones in the classroom, but how thoughtfully we design learning environments that acknowledge, engage, and critically work with these realities. Digital natives do not experience technology as an “add-on.” For them, platforms like Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn are spaces of meaning-making, identity formation, collaboration, and storytelling. Treating these tools only as distractions risks widening the gap between how students live and how they are taught. Designing contemporary learning environments requires a shift—from policing attention to curating engagement with their devices as allies.Item CLIP Newsletter(MICA, 2025-03)Peer assessment is one way of adjusting assessed group work grades intoindividual marks that may better reflect the different contributions of eachstudent. Metaverse, Generative AI, 5G, Spotify etc. found its usage in India in this phase. About 47% of India is still not connected with the Internet. The next few years will be exciting for the digital platforms in the country. The first time digitally connected areas / individuals will bring in diversity of culture, and hence the content promise will become more and more niche. Indian consumer largely loves to access content without paying for it, hence Indian digital advertising market is growing at a fast pace. The real money games have proved to be an exception, perhaps because the real money rewards address the greed of human beings to earn quick money. Business of digital platforms is a combination of consumers, tech, data, bandwidth, content, marketing, engagement and revenue. Each digital vertical is involved in creating unique identify by creating distinctive content. Indians engage heavily on digital platforms through their mobile phones. The digital platforms have been growing consistently over the past few years. This report gives insights about the top platforms within Video, Audio, gaming and news categories. The gratification of receiving something just a little more is what drives Indian customer satisfaction, even when it is something as minuscule as negotiating an extra panipuri piece from the vendor. Likewise, the Indian love for entertainment is ingrained in our very culture, whether in the dramatic loud pop of dropping jeera in piping hot oil or keeping an ear out for neighborly gossip; our adoration for the dramatics is also witnessed in India’s rich literary, theatrical, and cinematic history. Therefore, when it comes to paying for an OTT subscription, the characteristic price consciousness marries with the fondness for entertainment, fostering a generation of content consumers who would rather watch advertisements than make recurring payments for their dose of escapism. To truly understand this phenomenon, we must look at India’s history.Item CLIP Newsletter(MICA, 2025-09)These principles stand in contrast to pedagogy, according to Knowles, which is more teacher directed and content focused as its principles are framed with children as learners. Though there is some debate in the scholarship of teaching and learning about whether the two are actually distinct, educators can benefit from being mindful of andragogical principles and incorporating it into their teaching philosophy. Interestingly, many of the teaching strategies long considered “traditional” in management education—such as the case method—already embody andragogical principles. It places learners in real-world scenarios, prompting them to analyze, debate, and make decisions. This approach leverages learners’ prior experiences, encourages self-direction, and fosters critical thinking—hallmarks of andragogical design. A recent CLIP workshop also highlighted the need for forging better connections with students, cultivating an empathetic mindset, and responding thoughtfully to classroom dynamics. These are not just soft skills—they are foundational to andragogy. As this article on nurturing more creative and critical thinking through andragogical principles argues, adult learners thrive in environments where they feel respected, understood, and engaged as co-creators of knowledge.Item CLIP Newsletter(MICA, 2024-08)CLIP has developed a Faculty Development Program in collaboration with the Symbiosis Teaching Learning Resource Center, focused on Generative AI and Pedagogy.
