Abstract
Though we have done a deep study of the village including land fertility, major occupations, education level etc. but majorly our study was also to understand how these things have evolved over a period of time. We believe that the evolution of any characteristic rather than its current status help us better understand the reason behind why people do what they do. Therefore, our major focus during our 7 days stay at this village and interactions with the people were to find out the “why” behind everything that is in cultural practice out in the city. Bharhka is an ancient village, at Rangri, located near Sarsai, on the Rangri road, midway between Kullu and Manali, overlooking the Pir Panjal Mountains of the middle Himalayas. It is a 15-minute drive from the ancient capital of the Kullu district, Naggar (Himachal Pradesh), India. Gauri Shankar Temple, Dashal, is said to have been built by the Pandavas and is at 10-minute walking distance from Bharhka
