Rural Research Projcet: A study of Tribal Beneficiaries - Swades Foundation

Abstract

Understand the Swades Tribal beneficiaries with specific focus on current Green beneficiaries, drivers for their engagement with Swades, its impact on their lives & future communication strategy with tribal communities. Post interactions with the Adivasi communities across 4 blocks in Raigad, we gathered the following as common points across majority of the sample set • Most households are governed by earn-and-spend way of living as against the concept of savings and investment. Hence, they are unable to make a down-payment of the prescribed amount. • Households which have accepted a program, are often surprised to learn about costs which weren’t conveyed earlier (eg. taking care of goats, medicines etc). They would also like follow-ups from Swades once they’ve started with the project. • Most households are unwilling to change their migrant lifestyle as they’re lured by advance payments, for seasonal work. They are also underconfident about taking on big responsibilities which require greater commitment.
